The Book Blogger Hop: November 12-15th

Book Blogger HopThe Book Blogger Hop is a weekly event hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and runs from Friday to Sunday. The Hop is a fantastic way to get your blog noticed more and visit some other cool blogs that you didn't know about before. Head over and sign up and see what you can find!

Each week a different twist will be added to the hop so that everyone gets to know each other better so here's my little bit of information this week.

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

Yep I always start with the first title.  I am incredibly anal about that.  It drives me crazy to start in the middle of a series, I just always feel like I am missing part of the story and can't do an adequate job of reviewing the book without the whole back story.

Point in case, recently I received Death's Sweet Embrace by Travey O'Hara to review.  I look up info on the author and to learn more about The Dark Brethern series and find out that Death's Sweet Embrace is the second book in the series.  Even though the books are only loosely related to each other and are supposed to contain separate stories I just couldn't stand it.  I had to drop by half price books and see if I could find the first book, Night's Cold Kiss.  I found it and am currently reading it so all is well!

On a side note I also hate it when I pick up a new book that I am led to believe is a stand alone and then after reading it find out it is really the first book in a new series.  I am reading sooooo many series I do not need to start a ton of new ones!

Hope you guys all have a great week :-)

  1. Hi,

I'm stopping by from the Hop

    and I'm a new Follower!

I think that you get a better understanding of the whole picture when you read a series from the beginning as opposed to reading it out of order. I'm a big believer of reading material as it was intended which in this case would be in order.

Have a wonderful weekend & Happy Reading!
