November in Review

Another great reading month for me. I ended up reading 21 books. I even finished a couple series including: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Harper Connelly Mysteries, and the Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor.

I got caught up in the following series:
- Jaz Parks: "Bite Marks" (Jaz Parks, Book 6)
- Theodosia by R.A. LaFevers: "Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos" I actually read the 2nd book first for this series.

I started the following series:
- The Skinwalker Trilogy by Neal Shusterman: "Everlost"
- Quantum Gravity by Justina Robson: "Keeping it Real"
- Clockwork Century by Cherie Priest: "Boneshaker"
- The Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger: "Soulless"
- Glass by Maria V. Snyder: "Storm Glass"
- The Good Neighbors by Holly Black and Ted Naifeh: "Kin"

The best books of the month were:
- "Boneshaker" (Clockwork Century, Book 1) by Cherie Priest. This is wonderful book that combines steampunk, zombies, and lots of guns.
- "The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate" by Jacqueline Kelly. A great book about an unusually scientific minded young girl growing up in the World War II south.
- "The Elephant's Magician" by Kate DiCamillo. Wonderful book about a boy who seeks out his lost sister with the help of a magically appearing elephant.
- "Soulless" (The Parasol Protectorate, Book 1) by Gail Carriger. Creative paranormal book where Victorian England includes vampires and werewolves.
- "Rampant" by Diana Peterfreund. Evil rampaging unicorns. I loved it.
- "The Dust of 100 Dogs" by A.S. King. About a pirate captain that gets cursed with the Dust of 100 Dogs and has to live out all those dog lives before returning to human form with her memories intact.

There were also a few books that disappointed me this month:

- "Bones of Faerie" by Janni Lee Simner. Great idea, poor characterization.
- "Storm Glass" (Glass, Book 1) by Maria V. Snyder. Good plot and world. Horrible main character.
- "Mr. Darcy, Vampyre" by Amanda Grange. Poor dialogue. Poor characterization. The only thing good about this book was the way Grange integrated the vampires into society.
