In My Mailbox and Mailbox Monday - 11/15

IMM is a meme started at The Story Siren with some inspiration from Alea of Pop Culture Junkie.

Anyone can participate in IMM and you are not limited to only sharing books that arrive via your mailbox. You can also share books that you've bought or books that you've gotten at the library.

Mailbox Monday can be found at: The Printed Page

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week (checked out library books don’t count, eBooks & audio books do). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

I got four books this week.  The first two were eBooks I got from netgalley.com.  These were The Iron Queen (The Iron Fey, Book 3) by Julie Kagawa which I am really, really, really excited to read and Theodosia and the Last Pharaoh (Theodosia Thockmorton, Book 4) by R.L. LaFevers which is another series I have really been enjoying.

The third book was The Giver by Lois Lowry  which I got through paperbackswap.com,

The last book I picked up from the library and that was: Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, Book 1) by Carolyn Crane.  I have heard a lot of great things about this series and am eager to read it.

Hope that everyone had a great week and has a lot of great reading to look forward too!

The Iron Queen (The Iron Fey, Book 3) by Julie Kagawa
First Sentence: "Eleven years ago, on my sixth birthday, my father disappeared.
From NetGalley.com: "In less than twenty-four hours I’ll be seventeen.

Although, technically, I won’t actually be turning seventeen. I’ve been in the Nevernever too long. When you’re in Faery, you don’t age. So while a year has passed in the real world, agewise I’m probably only a few days older than when I went in.

In real life, I’ve changed so much I don’t even recognize myself.

MY NAME IS MEGHAN CHASE.
I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who’s sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I’m not sure anyone can survive it.
THIS TIME,

THERE WILL BE NO TURNING BACK."

Theodosia and the Last Pharaoh (Theodosia Thockmorton, Book 4) by R.L. LaFevers
Theodosia and the Last Pharaoh (The Theodosia Series)
First Sentence: "Even with the windows closed, the sand still managed to creep into the railway car and find its way into the most inconvenient places."
From Amazon.com: "In this fourth book in the series, Theodosia sets off to Egypt to return the Emerald Tablet—embedded with the knowledge of some of the ancient world’s most guarded secrets. Accompanied by her cat, Isis (smuggled along in a basket), Theo plans to return the artifact, then explore the mysteries surrounding her own birth and oh, yes— help her mother dig up treasures on her archeological expedition.
But nothing ever works out as planned, especially when a precious treasure appears suddenly, and then just as suddenly disappears . . . When the Serpents of Chaos get involved, Theo finds she’s digging up a lot more than she expected!"

The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Giver
First Sentence: "It was almost December, and Jonas was beginning to be frightened.
From Amazon.com: "When Jonas turns 12, he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. Now, it’s time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back."

From Library:

Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, Book 1) by Carolyn Crane
Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy: Book 1)
First Sentence: "From where we sit I have the perfect view of Shady Ben Foley, dining on the other side of the lavishly decorated Mongolian restaurant."
From Amazon.com: "JUSTINE KNOWS SHE’S GOING TO DIE. ANY SECOND NOW.

Justine Jones has a secret. A hardcore hypochondriac, she’s convinced a blood vessel is about to burst in her brain. Then, out of the blue, a startlingly handsome man named Packard peers into Justine’s soul and invites her to join his private crime-fighting team. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime deal. With a little of Packard’s hands-on training, Justine can weaponize her neurosis, turning it outward on Midcity’s worst criminals, and finally get the freedom from fear she’s always craved. End of problem.

Or is it? In Midcity, a dashing police chief is fighting a unique breed of outlaw with more than human powers. And while Justine’s first missions, including one against a nymphomaniac husband-killer, are thrilling successes, there is more to Packard than meets the eye. Soon, while battling her attraction to two very different men, Justine is plunging deeper into a world of wizardry, eroticism, and cosmic secrets. With Packard’s help, Justine has freed herself from her madness—only to discover a reality more frightening than anyone’s worst fears."
