Book Blogger Hop: 9/2-9/5

Book Blogger Hop

This week's question:

“What are you most looking forward to this fall/autumn season – A particular book release? Halloween? The leaves changing color? Cooler temperatures? A vacation? (If your next season is other than fall/autumn, tell us about it and what you are most looking forward to in your part of the world!)”

Autumn is my favorite season of the year, so I look forward to it regardless of what else is going on.  I love the changing colors of the leaves, the hint of coolness in the air, how wonderful it is to go camping this time of year, and the prelude to the holiday season.  This year I am especially looking forward to a vacation we are taking to Yellowstone Park.  We leave in a couple weeks and will be spending a little over a week driving out to Yellowstone, taking in the sites, and driving back.  I've never been there and am really looking forward to seeing all the wonderful and fascinating sites.

Book Blogger Hop: 8/26-8/29

Book Blogger Hop

This week's question:

“Non-book-related this week!! Do you have pets?”

Yes! Lots of them :-)  I have a greyhound named Ruby.  I also have three cats Jubei (also known as the brainless white wonder), Loki (the quietest of the bunch), and Seras (a three-legged rescue who's a little jumpy about everything).  My son has also recently acquired some fish.  So we have three fish in the house right now a Beta named Anakin, a tetra named Clone, and a catfish whose name I can't recall right now.

You can see them below.

Book Blogger Hop: 8/19-8/22

Book Blogger HopThe Book Blogger Hop is a weekly event hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and runs from Friday to Sunday. The Hop is a fantastic way to get your blog noticed more and visit some other cool blogs that you didn't know about before. Head over and sign up and see what you can find!

Each week a different twist will be added to the hop so that everyone gets to

know each other better so here's my little bit of information this week.

This week's question is the following:

“What’s the LONGEST book you’ve ever read?”
(Note: I’m putting one caveat on this question. You aren’t allowed to say the Bible, Torah, Qur’an, or other religious/spiritual text.)

The first book that comes to mind is To Green Angel Tower (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn) by Tad Williams.  This book was 1104 pages long, the other reason it pops in to my head is that I read it all in under two days during spring break in high school.

The second book that pops into my head is Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon; which I read forever...at least it seemed like forever. Cryptonomicon was 1169 pages long.

So those are the two longest I can think of right now :-)

Book Blogger Hop: 6/24-6/27

Book Blogger HopThe Book Blogger Hop is a weekly event hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and runs from Friday to Sunday. The Hop is a fantastic way to get your blog noticed more and visit some other cool blogs that you didn't know about before. Head over and sign up and see what you can find!

Each week a different twist will be added to the hop so that everyone gets to know each other better so here's my little bit of information this week.

“When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?”

When I was really young.  I don't know when exactly but I remember my pride in getting through Hop on Pop all by myself when I was four years old.  I also have a lot of fond memories of my mom reading The Wizard of Oz series to me and my sister when we were young.  My father would also read The Nutcracker to us every Christmas with the music tape in the background.

I was part of the library's summer reading program every year when I was younger and also had a great time participating in the Book It program during the school year. As I got older I volunteered to help run the Summer Reading Program at the library.  I think the first thing I read that absolutely made me fall in love with fantasy was The Hero and The Crown by Robin McKinley, after that I read The Hobbit and then The Lord of the Rings, and then started on the Dune series...all in elementary school.

Reading has always been the way I relax, the way I expand my mind, and I love it almost as much as I love my family and friends :-)
