Book Blogger Hop: 6/24-6/27

Book Blogger HopThe Book Blogger Hop is a weekly event hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and runs from Friday to Sunday. The Hop is a fantastic way to get your blog noticed more and visit some other cool blogs that you didn't know about before. Head over and sign up and see what you can find!

Each week a different twist will be added to the hop so that everyone gets to know each other better so here's my little bit of information this week.

“When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?”

When I was really young.  I don't know when exactly but I remember my pride in getting through Hop on Pop all by myself when I was four years old.  I also have a lot of fond memories of my mom reading The Wizard of Oz series to me and my sister when we were young.  My father would also read The Nutcracker to us every Christmas with the music tape in the background.

I was part of the library's summer reading program every year when I was younger and also had a great time participating in the Book It program during the school year. As I got older I volunteered to help run the Summer Reading Program at the library.  I think the first thing I read that absolutely made me fall in love with fantasy was The Hero and The Crown by Robin McKinley, after that I read The Hobbit and then The Lord of the Rings, and then started on the Dune series...all in elementary school.

Reading has always been the way I relax, the way I expand my mind, and I love it almost as much as I love my family and friends :-)

  1. My daughter learned how to read earlier this year and this summer my son is participating in his first ever summer reading program at the library.

I realized how important books had become in my life in 1999. Come see what happened.

  3. I think it's awesome that you have participated and helped with Summer Reading Programs and things like that! I don't think that my school did anything like that growing up and I never lived near a library. Plus, no one in my family or my friends read haha. I love it though!

  5. When did I first realize I loved reading? I wish I could prove a pre-natal predilection towards books but my memories don’t stretch back quite that far.

The earliest memories I can recall involved books. First having them read to me then reading them on my own the minute I had the ability.

Books have been a major part of my life ever since. My passion for the written word knowing no bounds, I started writing books on top of reading them about ten years ago.

  6. Even though I was reading since I was very young, I wasn't enjoying it for the most part. I was a teenager before I started to love reading.
