In My Mailbox and Mailbox Monday - 10/18

IMM is a meme started at The Story Siren with some inspiration from Alea of Pop Culture Junkie.

Anyone can participate in IMM and you are not limited to only sharing books that arrive via your mailbox. You can also share books that you've bought or books that you've gotten at the library.

Mailbox Monday can be found at: The Printed Page

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week (checked out library books don’t count, eBooks & audio books do). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

I got four books this week.  The first was  Matched by Ally Condie which I got through Librarything's Early Reviewer program.  This sounds like a great book, not to mention the beautiful cover :-)

The second book was Boy's Life by Robert R. McCammon which I got through paperbackswap.com.  This is another McCammon book I have been wanting to read and finally decided to get.

The third was an ebook I got from the author in exchange for an honest review and that was Ghost Hunter by Lori Brighton.  Lori is a friend of H.P Mallory who book "To Kill a Warlock" I reviewed earlier this month.  I love forward to reading this one too.

The fourth is another ebook I got from netgalley.com is The Cellar by A.J. Whitten.  This book is supposed to be some sort of creepy undead take on Romeo and Juliet and I just couldn't pass it up!

See more info on these book below.  I hope that you all have a great week of reading ahead :-)

Matched by Ally Condie
Matched
First Sentence: "Now that I've found the way to fly, which direction should I go into the night?"
From Amazon.com: "Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow."

Boy's Life by Robert R. McCammon
Boy's Life
First Sentence: "I want to tell you some important things before we start our journey."
From Amazon.com: "Zephyr, Alabama, is an idyllic hometown for eleven-year-old Cory Mackenson -- a place where monsters swim the river deep and friends are forever. Then, one cold spring morning, Cory and his father witness a car plunge into a lake -- and a desperate rescue attempt brings his father face-to-face with a terrible, haunting vision of death. As Cory struggles to understand his father's pain, his eyes are slowly opened to the forces of good and evil that surround him. From an ancient mystic who can hear the dead and bewitch the living, to a violent clan of moonshiners, Cory must confront the secrets that hide in the shadows of his hometown -- for his father's sanity and his own life hang in the balance...."

eBooks:

Ghost Hunter by Lori Brighton
The Ghost Hunter, a Paranormal Romance
First Sentence: "Considering the place was at least three hundred years old, she supposed it could have been worse."
From Amazon.com: "When Ashley Hunter inherits the Inn where her father mysteriously vanished years ago, she jumps at the chance to finally uncover the truth about his disappearance. But soon after taking ownership of the decrepit building, Ashley realizes she’s in for far more than she bargained. Not only has she inherited answers to many sought-after questions, she’s also inherited spirits, demons and even fallen angels! Then Cristian arrives, a gorgeous man who insists he merely needs a room to rent. She believes him, until one by one her ghosts start disappearing...

As a fallen angel destined for a life of servitude, Cristian Lucius is relegated to protecting earth from unwanted spirits. But he can’t accomplish this daunting task alone. He requires assistance from the very woman who frustrates him as much as she intrigues him. Cristian is determined to ignore his intense attraction for Ashley, and focus on his mission. If they don’t work together, they won’t have a chance in hell of defeating the demon threatening their lives. The problem is getting Ashley to trust him. No easy task, considering Cristian is the very man responsible for her father’s disappearance."

The Cellar by A.J. Whitten
The Cellar
First Sentence: "Some days, Meredith, I just...I just wish it was me who died," my sister said thatt Tuesday morning in early September."
From Amazon.com: "Everyone at school can’t stop talking about how hot Meredith Willis’s new next-door neighbor, Adrien, is. But Meredith can’t help but think there’s something strange about the cool, sophisticated new guy, and those sunglasses he constantly wears are the least of it. Every time he’s around, Meredith sees things—terrifying things that nobody else seems to notice. And when she dares to sneak a look into the windows of his house, she sees something in the cellar that makes her believe that Adrien might be more than just a creep—he may be an actual monster.

But her sister, Heather, doesn’t share Meredith’s repulsion. Heather believes Adrien is the only guy who really understands her. In fact, she may be falling in love with him. When Adrien and Heather are cast as the leads in the school production of Romeo and Juliet, to Heather, it feels like fate. To Meredith, it feels like a bad omen. But if she tries to tear the couple apart, she could end up the last place she’d ever want to be: the cellar. Can Meredith convince her sister that she’s dating the living dead before it’s too late for both of them?"

  1. Matched was AMAZING, I loved it! I hope you do too! I got The Ghost Hunter a couple weeks ago but probably won't get to it until December, so I'm hoping I see some great reviews on it!
